Isaiah 46:4b
“…I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Luke 5:18-20, 24-25
“Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven…But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins…’ He said to the paralyzed man, ‘I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.’ Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.”
Jude 24-25
“To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”
Great Physician, you reach out your hands to receive us with pardon and healing.
At our most helpless moment the Spirit carries us into your presence. Christ in his strength tears away all barriers to make a way for us in our weakness.
Because we are forgiven, turn our paralysis into praise. With tenacious faith may we thrust our wounded brothers and sisters into your welcoming arms.
By the power found in Jesus’ name we ask this, the friend who lay broken and vulnerable so that we might enter your holy house.
